About me
Hello, I'm Debbie Hughes
A Care Inspectorate registered childminder providing safe, stimulating and happy home-based care that takes account of parents' wishes.
My name is Debbie Hughes and I am a Care Inspectorate registered childminder. Living in the house is my husband, who is fully PVG disclosure checked.
My service operates from 8.00am until 4pm or 5pm depending on the day, with flexibility available by arrangement. Drop off and pick up to and from school or nursery can be arranged. I hold Public Liability Insurance and car insurance that allows me to transport the children, and I am a member of the Scottish Childminding Association (SCMA).
I encourage parents and children to visit before a placement begins and I operate a gradual settling-in policy so that first days are calm rather than daunting.
My aims and objectives
- Each child is cared for in a safe, stimulating and happy environment that takes account of parents' wishes.
- Needs and personal likes and dislikes are taken into account through discussion with parents.
- Toys and equipment are selected to meet each child's stage of development.
- I value the individual needs and abilities of every child.
- Children are helped to develop their confidence and self esteem.
- Parents are kept fully informed of their child's progress.
- Child protection underpins all areas of my work.
Why choose a childminder?
Childminding gives children the security of a home and a familiar adult, with the structure and accountability of a registered service.
One consistent carer
Your child builds a secure attachment with one familiar adult instead of a rota of staff, which supports confidence and self esteem.
A real family home
Meals at a kitchen table, a garden, naps in a quiet room and everyday life skills — not an institutional setting.
Small numbers, close attention
Fewer children means activities, routines and comfort can be tailored to each child's stage of development.
Mixed ages together
Registered for children from 6 months to 16 years, so siblings can stay together and older children have wraparound care.
Flexible hours
Core hours from 8am with flexibility by arrangement, plus drop off and pick up to and from school or nursery.
Open communication
You are kept fully informed of your child's progress, with daily updates through the online parent portal.
